| Our curriculum is all the planned activities that we as a school organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. It includes, not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum (2014), but also the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich the experience of our children. It also includes the ‘hidden curriculum’, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, resilient and responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others, whilst developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to learning, in order that they achieve their true potential. |

| Plans for Design Technology for Key Stage One and Two have been developed to provide a comprehensive, balanced progression of subject-specific skills, cross-curricular links and activities that the cover the requirements of the primary National Curriculum programme of study and has a key emphasis on bridging the gaps within their key skills progression. |

| * At the end of the Reception (EYFS) academic year of 2023-24, over 100% was achieved in the ‘creating with’ and 100% ‘being imaginative and expressive’ units which closely demonstrate the early foundation stages of the DT curriculum. This was up by 7% from the last academic year. * In the academic year of 2023-24, nearly over 73% of children were at expected or above in the DT cooking unit and over 70% of children were at expected or above in the DT project unit. * There was effective coverage of and progress in DT across the school (see Class Subject Photo Folders). |
| Impact 2024-25 |

| This year’s impact is to continue to raise the profile of DT through workshops and competitions. The focus will be to raise ‘Cultural Capital’ and enhance the opportunities for children to gain experiences from primary resources and cultural enrichment. Cultural education through DT will enhance aspiration and ambition, develop communication and team working skills, strengthen creative and critical thinking skills, and build discipline and confidence in young people. It can enrich teaching and learning across the curriculum. |
