I have been a Governor for over 10 years and became Chair of Governors in 2017. As a local Councillor, I am heavily involved in the local community, and bring my knowledge of this to the School. I am the link governor for Finance.

I have a special interest in Literacy and assist with the Head Teacher Appraisal.  Both of my children attended Hillside but now have finished full time education.  I worked as a civil servant for over 30 years until I took early retirement in 2014.  I am currently employed at two local High Schools on a part time basis.

I am the link governor for Health and Safety.

I am the Deputy Headteacher and I have been teaching at Hillside for over 30 years. I have seen the school develop from a First school to a Primary with a Nursery and all the changes along the way. I am also Early Years and Key Stage One Leader and have responsibility for English across the school. I have previously been staff governor and am very happy to be so again.

Safeguarding Governor

I am delighted to have joined the Governing body at Hillside Primary School.  Both of my children and three of my grandchildren have attended or are attending Hillside so it is a chance for me to give something back and to thank the school for looking after my family so well.

I worked as a teacher in the Further and Higher education sector for 36 years until I retired in 2013.  I have since spent 4½ years on the Governing body at another local school.

I am the link governor for Safeguarding.

Following a career as a primary school teacher and senior leader, I am now an education adviser. Being a school governor is a privilege as I am passionate about education and pupil outcomes. I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the governors and staff Hillside.

I am the link governor for Curriculum.

I have gladly taken on the role of a Parent Governor. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to contribute to the school that all three of my children have attended or currently attend. My experience as a parent of children with special educational needs gives me the passion and knowledge to have a positive impact on the inclusivity and support of students with SEN.

I have worked offshore in the Oil, Gas and Renewables sector for 13 years and now work within the same sector as a Project Manager based onshore. I hope to bring the qualities I use in my day-to-day work and family life to my role as Parent Governor and help Hillside Primary School continue to thrive.

I am the link governor for SEND.
